With a New Year comes the tradition for New Year's Resolutions, culturally this is not something is practiced much here on the islands so I have never really thought or taken the time to set myself a list of New Years Resolutions.
I thought why not this year I set myself just one resolution I know I will enjoy setting myself for 2018, it is mainly because of this blog that I chose this resolution.
Earlier today with my two cousins; Jean Yves and Charles, we found ourselves at our Grandmere's house enjoying those last moments of the holiday season. Grandmere's house represents our childhood, it was the place where we spent so much of time together as children and looking back at those moments, food was always involved in some way or another. From Sunday Family Lunches to Celebrations to Birthdays to After School Tea Time, we basically grow up with food around us without even realising it.
Sitting on the beach, sand in our toes and a festive Seybrew in our hands the conversation stirred towards food and going out to eat. All three of us have been lucky enough to live abroad in 3 completely different countries; Switzerland, Germany and USA. We all enjoyed going out for dinner and trying new places while we were at university and we realised that we should actually do this more often here because there are so many places to be able to enjoy eating out especially with the right company makes it even more enjoyable.
When thinking about it, we are quite spoilt when it comes to choices for restaurants for such a small island. You can get sushi, seafood, Italian, Creole (obviously), Thai, India, Chinese and French to name a few. Having a wide range of choices when it comes to food, highlights what is special about the Seychelles and that is that Seychellois or Creole culture is a fusion of all the cultures that found themselves relocating to Seychelles many moons ago.
So here is my Foodie Bucket List for 2018, I will post along the way as we eat out at my bucket list restaurants;
1 - Seyshima Restaurant: This restaurant is based inside the H Hotel Resort at Bel Ombre in the north of Mahe and has a focus on Japanese Food.
2 - L'Indochine Restaurant: Found within the Kempinski Resort in the southern district of Baie Lazare and has a Asian Fusion inspired menu.
3 - Coral Asia Restaurant: Overlooking the well known Beau Vallon Beach, Coral Asia is the Coral Strand Hotel's Sushi Restaurant.
4 - La Scala Restaurant: This restaurant is one of Seychelles oldest and iconic restaurants, owned by an Italian Couple, focuses on Italian Cuisine overlooking the sea at Bel Ombre.
5 - Marie Antoinette Restaurant: Probably one of the most iconic restaurants of Seychelles overlooking Victoria, focusing on a Creole Menu in a traditional Creole House.
6 - Rockpool Seafood Bar and Grill: Overlooking the sea, this restaurant serves a choice of seafood, grills and pasta dishes.
7 - Saffron Restaurant: Banyan Tree Resort's signature Thai inspired restaurant near the world famous Intendance Beach.
Hopefully when 2019 approaches, I would have completed my foodie bucket list!
