Wine Farms, Wine and Food Pairings and Ferraris...

When you think of South African Wines, the one place comes to mind is Stellenbosch. A day out in the Wine Farms of Stellenbosch is a must do when visiting Cape Town.

With so many wine farms to choose from, my sister and I decided on Clos Malverne for our Sunday Wine Farm Adventure. Sunday mid morning, all dressed up, we set off for our little getaway. We decided to visit the town of Stellenbosch, which is a quaint little town with a little European flare to it. Walking down the streets lined with little cafes and restaurants made me think of the European towns I have had the chance to visit.

As it was a little chilly that Sunday morning, walking through the town was not enough to warm us up, so we stopped for a hot chocolate.

Once we were both warm, we head out back to the car and set out for Clos Malverne. It took us a few wrong turns thanks to the GPS, but we finally found Clos Malverne.

Pulling up at the gate in my sister's VW Polo, we thought we had entered a Ferrari Showroom. We decided to park a little further away from the rows of red supercars, we headed in to the restaurant for our "Food and Wine Pairing Experience" the slogan of the Wine Estate.

The Food & Wine Pairing costs under ZAR 500.00 for a four course meal with generous glasses of wine with each course, it is definitely money well spent. We enjoyed our meals and the wine pairings for each of our courses was the right pair. The food was enhanced by the choice of wine served.

From Sweetcorn Soup to Poached Pears to Malay Chicken Curry to Chocolate Cake and Raspberry Ice Cream to Creme Brûlée, we happily left Clos Malverne with our stomach full and a box of our favourite wines we tasted during the lunch.

A must do the next time I visit Clos Malverne, is there Ice-Cream & Wine Pairing according to their website they are the first wine estate to provide such an experience in Stellenbosch.
